About the Course

“Great Cloud of Witnesses” is a nine-session adventure into just what the Holy Spirit was doing between the end of the 1st century and the beginning of the 20th. He didn't just go off to hibernate in a cave; he was in fact quite active in the lives of fascinating people such as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Augustine, Bridget of Sweden, Teresa of Avila, George Fox, John Wesley, and early North Americans as well, empowering them with his gifts. This course—designed for small groups and classes—fills in the blanks, enriching our heritage and stretching our vision for the future.

There's a classic Peanuts cartoon where Charlie Brown is watching TV by himself. His friend(?) Lucy comes sweeping into the room, hits the power button, and mumbles to herself, "Might as well turn this thing off--nobody's watching TV anyway." Charlie looks up, bewildered once again.
     The truth is, for anyone who chooses to watch the "movie" of God's church through the middle centuries, it's actually quite intriguing. I invite you to check out what this course has to offer. Meet some of its surprising people. Watch how the Holy Spirit gets their attention. Click on the links (right side) to see the lesson guides, the handouts, the PowerPoint slides, even a few video clips. You might be pleasantly surprised.
     Then think about which of your friends and contacts might like to join you in a group or class, exploring all this together.
